Costume Design 101 :: Act I, Scene I :: Act 1, Scene II :: Act II, Scene I :: Act II, Scene II

In Act II, Scene I, the next morning at the family breakfast table, things are still frosty in the family so we want to continue showing the DAUGHTER separate from the MOM, DAD, and SON. Since there has been a passage of time and place in the action, we must dress them appropriately as if they all just got out of bed. The costumes have to support the action.

ACT II, SCENE I
the next morning

MOM, DAD, and SON sitting at the breakfast table. DAUGHTER enters, she has just woken up.

DAUGHTER (kind of meekly)
Hello.

ALL (not enthusiastically)
Hello.

DAUGHTER
How was last night?

DAD
David never showed up.

DAUGHTER (wide eyed)
Really?

SON
Kathy wasn't there either. They both weren't there.

DAUGHTER
Oh my God I don't believe it.

DAD
So it turned out that YOU wouldn't have had anything to be embarrassed about. David's folks were the embarrassed ones.

DAUGHTER (staring into space)
I don't believe it.

End of scene
